1. Man is a sinner.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23. Every person ever born in the world has been born a sinner. We are sinners by nature and sinners by choice. God cannot look upon a sinful person with any approval and we who are sinners can do nothing to gain God’s approval.
2. God will judge all men and women.
Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” Romans 1:18 teaches that God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteous men.
3. Jesus came to save sinners.
Here is the greatest news in all the world. Men and women do not have to face the judgment of God. I Timothy 1:15 says “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” The Bible teaches that Jesus went to the cross and died to save sinners. Jesus took the wrath of God that we deserved so that we would not have to face God’s wrath and judgment. When He died on the cross, God poured out His wrath on the sinless Savior, His Son, so that you and I might be saved.
4. We must believe on Jesus Christ as Savior.
Now, all of us who are sinners and face the judgment of God must look to the cross and see the Son of God dying for sinners. We must believe on Him and receive Him as Lord and Savior of our lives. When we believe on Him, God’s wrath is removed from us and we have an eternal home in heaven given to us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
God demonstrated love to this sinful world by offering His Son as an atonement for sin. Jesus is God come in the flesh and as such was a pure, sinless, and precious offering for our sin. When He died on the cross, He died in the place of every man, woman, boy or girl who will trust Him as Savior and believe He is the Son of God.
When we believe, we will not perish. That is, we will not be separated from God in a place called ”hell” or “the lake of fire.” Believing on Jesus and coming to Him as Savior removes God’s wrath, removes the danger of eternity in hell and gives us an eternal home in heaven when we die.
5. What then does God want from us?
Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved.” What a promise that is! You shall be saved from eternal death and hell and you shall be given eternity in heaven.
6. Our invitation to you.
See Jesus for Who He is. He is the blessed Son of God Who died in your place and my place if we believe. Look to the cross and in your mind’s eye see the Son God dying for you. Say to Him, “Thank you Lord Jesus for dying in my place. Thank you for dying for me, the sinner and rising from the dead to give me eternal life in heaven. I receive you as Lord and Savior of my life.” John 1:12-13 “But as many as received Him (Christ) to them He gave the right to be called children of God, to as many who believe on His Name.”
When you come to faith in Jesus and believe on Him as Lord and Savior, you become a child of God and heaven will be your eternal home.
7. Our Prayer.
If you have trusted Jesus as your Savior, our prayer is that you will come and be a part of Mogadore Baptist Church and learn more about your new-found faith. If you live in another area, not in proximity to our church, we pray that you will seek out another Bible teaching church where you can grow in your faith.
